Caring Connections

Psychotherapy, family counseling, and care coordination for older adults and families affected by neurological illness.

Caring Connections’ mission is to provide quality services to individuals and families coping with the challenges associated with aging, illness, and caregiving.

Following a diagnosis of dementia or a neurological disorder, it can be hard to know where to turn. Despite advancements in medical knowledge and research, many conditions still lack effective treatments and cures. Caring Connections aims to provide support and guidance in living with these conditions.

My goal is to answer the question: “What now?”

Cynthia Clyburn, LCSW, LISW-CP

As a trained psychotherapist and care consultant, I help individuals and families cope with the challenges associated with neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease, Frontotemporal Degeneration, Lewy Body Dementia, ALS, Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and other rare conditions.

I practice with warmth and compassion, and utilize my clinical knowledge and expertise to meet the unique needs of individuals, families, and caregivers affected by neurological illness. I previously worked as a care coordinator for a local home care agency in Charleston, South Carolina. I earned my master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Social Policy and Practice. I completed my clinical training at the Penn Memory Center and the Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center, and I was subsequently hired as a medical social worker at Penn Medicine's Department of Neurology. I am a licensed clinical social worker in South Carolina and Pennsylvania.
